So, one of my Christmas gifts was a latte (espresso and milk frother) machine. Queue the gates of Heaven opening and the heavenly choir singing! I’m THAT excited. This girl right here has a latte budget. It’s that serious.

Since my brother (thanks bro!) gave me my Christmas gift this year my fiancé and I have been learning and sharpening our latte making skills. It’s been really fun and delicious, as I have started trying to create my favorite flavored lattes with homemade syrups.

I started with a coconut latte, because coconut. Also, because so many coffee shops claim to create coconut lattes with coconut milk, but the coconut milk is more sugar water than anything else. So, homemade coconut latte it is!

Servings: 1 latte


  • 1/3 Unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1/4 water
  • 1/2 cup & 1 tbs coconut palm sugar, purchased mine here.
  • 1 1/2 shots espresso
  • 2 tbs coconut syrup (depending on taste)
  • 8 ounces steamed milk with foam

To make coconut syrup: place coconut sugar, coconut milk and water in saucepan over medium heat and stir continuously until all sugar is dissolved. Bring to a light boil, then allow to completely cool. Pour into a jar and in fridge to store.

A trick my fiancé does to add even more flavor to the espresso is adding a TBS of coconut sugar to the espresso right after it’s made and before it’s added to the milk. Once this is dissolved, pour your chosen amount of espresso into your steamed milk (for every 8 ounces of milk I use 1- 1 1/2 shots of espresso). Stir the drink then add the foam to the top.
