When Life Gives You Lemons, Wear Them

When Life Gives You Lemons, Wear Them

How darling is this little dress? I love the simple structure, lightweight feel and of course the adorable lemon print. Did I mention it’s only $30? I also think it would look so cute with a thin black belt around the waist!

Two weeks ago I had to get a root canal. Talk about LEMONS. A broken filling ended up giving me a cavity, which almost hit my nerve which means I had to dish out a pretty penny to get it fixed. While I can’t always wear the lemons life throws at me on pretty dresses like this one, I try to find the silver lining in tough/painful/unexpectedly-expensive situations.

This isn’t the first time I’ve had an oral procedure/surgery. I’ve had a previous root canal where the Endodontist ended up finding an extra three roots in my tooth…like what? And then I had to get that same tooth extracted by a prosthodontist who literally had to hold down my body as leverage to pry the tooth out from my mouth. SO MUCH FUN GUYS.

So what is my point with horrifying you with these stories? Well, I am actually terrified of even a regular dentist visit, so you can imagine these procedures had me losing sleep for many nights. However, I found myself being immediately grateful I could actually get that sort of helpful procedure done. Well, maybe not immediately…but once the pain subsided I was truly thankful.

I made lemonade-type thoughts out of those lemons, because in those lousy situations it was easy to see the silver lining and practice thankfulness. I’m thankful there are knowledgeable and trust-worthy professionals that are able to perform the procedures I’ve needed. I’m thankful I have access to those doctors. I’m thankful I have loved ones to take me to my appointments if I get to chicken to drive myself (I asked my hubs to drive me to my root canal appointment-he’s the best). I’m thankful those same people check-in with me after too.

I’m just really thankful. The more I workout that gratefulness muscle, it gets much harder to get sour and angry and becomes second nature to look for silver-lining.

Hope you have beautiful week, happy Monday!
