Real Talk Friday: How to Live Your Life Uniquely

How to Live Your Life Uniquely

I’m no rebel, I like organization and goals and carving out clear paths in my life. However, I try to always make these paths my own. Unmoved by what others are doing or what’s expected of me and instead inspired solely on my priorities in my own life. It’s how I live my life uniquely.

“The question you should be asking isn’t, “What do I want?” or “What are my goals?” but “What would excite me?” – Tim Ferris

How to Live Your Life Uniquely

“Looking at life from a different perspective makes you realize that it’s not the deer that’s crossing the road, rather it’s the road that’s crossing the forest.”

Here are a few ways I keep myself focused on me and what’s important for me to accomplish, to experience and to just be in life.

Celebrate your uniqueness

This is probably the easiest thing for me, personally. I love my differences and quirks and I LOVE finding those in others. It’s what I love most about myself and what I love most about others. I’ve found celebrating what makes you unique is so important in realizing that what you want out of life and understanding that the experiences you want to go through can be very different from others, even from those close to you. So the quicker you learn to celebrate your uniqueness, the quicker you’re on your way to living your life uniquely!

If comparison ever creeps up on you, use it as motivation

“Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today.” -Jordan B. Peterson

While you’re carving your own path, you may see someone in your life who is experiencing something that you realize you want to experience too. It’s really easy for the comparison game to creep in during these times, but instead turn that little nudging feeling into motivation. At the end of the day, you can still do your thing in life while allowing the positive changes and accomplishments of those around you to motivate you, that’s just part of being in a community. Plus, turning a feeling of comparison into a feeling of motivation will keep you on track with your own goals and keep your thoughts positive!

Surround Yourself with a Strong Inner Circle

I believe a strong inner circle includes people that not only understand you, but support the paths you want to take in life (and vice versa). While it helps when others in your circle are beating to their own drum too and pay no mind to “societal pressure”, it’s totally fine if they also adhere to a more traditional life plan and lifestyle. What’s important is that your circle remains a judgement-free and positive group of people that is all about passion, positivity, laughter and words of encouragement-then you’re surrounding yourself with a strong inner circle.

Keep Taking Risks

“People will choose unhappiness over uncertainty.” – Tim Ferris

Success is success and failure is success, because failure is the success of learning and growing. So if you live your life risk-free, you’re robbing yourself of personal growth and learning experiences. One of the most freeing feelings in the world is to not be afraid of failure, and that feeling usually comes with having failed-whether on a large or small scale. Success and failure is as unique to a person as anything could be, so don’t be afraid to take risks. It offers you a chance carve out an even more unique path in your life.

So those are my tips for How to Live Your Life Uniquely! It’s not always rainbows and butterflies, but nothing in life that’s exciting and impressionable on your experiences is easy to come by 🙂
