So these are the first over-the-knee boots I’ve ever owned and I’m all about them. I own a few pairs of tall boots and love them, but I’ve always been hesitant when it comes to thigh-high styles.

This is because of a couple of things. Firstly, I always thought my petite frame would get lost in such high boots. And secondly, I don’t find styling OTK boots particularly easy. So today I’m sharing my tips for making such statement boots work, especially if you’re a shorty like me!
The first of My Over the Knee Boots Style Tips, is choosing your hemline wisely. Whether you’re wearing a skirt or dress, the space between the top of your boots and bottom of your hemline is important-even more so if you’re petite. OTK boots can give you a sleek look and elongate your legs, so long as they aren’t hitting too close to the hemline of your skirt or dress.
Secondly, I prefer OTK boots in neutral colors only. Black, brown or tan. Since this type of boot is already a statement in itself, I like to keep the color simple. This also lets me have fun with colors and patterns in my outfit without having too much going on.
The last of My Over the Knee Boots Style Tips is to be very choosy with the jeans you decide to wear with OTK boots. Jeggings, or very-fitted denim is my personal favorite, as they slide neatly into the boots and help keep everything sleek. I also prefer to pair OTK boots with dark-washed denim to keep the illusion of elongating my legs. If the denim is too light, it ends up giving a choppy effect.
