It’s officially summertime, the season of getting crafty with homemade cocktails to sip on while soaking up the sun or enjoying the warm evening air. While my previous Prairie Organic Vodka cocktail recipe shared here was a simple and pretty drink to whip up in a snap for summer, today’s cocktail is all about putting in a little more thought into what you’re drinking. Today I’m sharing a delicious Blackberry Basil Ginger Fizz with Prairie Organic Vodka.

Following Prairie Organic Spirits’ lead in being more conscious, I wanted to think about the ingredients used in this cocktail and make sure they were seasonal. While the flavors of spices are mostly synonymous with the colder months, ginger is one that pairs so well with rich fruit like blackberries, and it’s always been my go-to spice flavor to use in cocktails during the summertime.

Another conscious detail in creating this cocktail was to make homemade basil syrup for ultimate freshness and the leftovers can also be used in countless other cocktails such as martinis, gin and tonics or even as a sweetener in tea. So, none of the delicious syrup goes to waste.

Although extra thought went into this Blackberry Basil Ginger Fizz, it’s still a simple and easy to create cocktail for the vodka lover. You can just taste a little more love with every sip 😉

Blackberry Basil Ginger Fizz with Prairie Organic Vodka


Servings: 2

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz Prairie Organic Vodka
  • 2 oz homemade basil syrup
  • 1 oz freshly-squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 cups muddled blackberries
  • 4 oz ginger beer, non-alcoholic

Directions:

Place the blackberries into the cocktail shaker and muddle very well. Pour in the lemon juice, ginger beer and several ice cubes. Shake. Strain evenly into two glasses that are filled halfway with ice. Pour 1 oz of the basil syrup into each glass and stir. Garnish with a few slices of lemon and a basil leaf.
