The old fashioned is a classic cocktail yea-round, but I always find it especially appropriate during the fall. I went ahead and gave it even more autumnal vibes by adding some spice and the flavor of delicious pear to it to create a Spiced Pear Old Fashioned.
Whiskey is not my first drink of choice, yet I very much enjoyed one of these with the hubs, who was a fan too!
Spiced Pear Old Fashioned
- 1/2 can of sliced pears
- 1/2 Forelle Pear
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 4 oz whiskey
- dash of bitters
- splash of club soda
- In the bottom of the cocktail shaker, pour half the can of canned pears (along with the can filling), slices of half the pear and nutmeg. Muddle until the majority of the pear is mushed and you’re getting more of their juices.
- Pour in ice 1/4 of the cocktail shaker (roughly 4 ice cubes) and the whiskey. Shake for 10 seconds.
- Pour evenly into two glasses filled halfway with ice or one large ice cube. Splash club soda and a dash bitters in each. Give a gentle stir. Garnish with a pear slice, a sugared and spiced rim or with a cinnamon stick.
