Welcome to My Neutral Travel-Inspired Boho Guest Room! This room is such a vibe and makes us so happy. When we moved from our apartment to this house, we still loved so much of our apartment decor as the pieces made us feel really happy and nostalgic. Most of them represent travel or were quite literally from our travels, something that means a lot to us.
I was so excited when I got the idea to make our guest room travel-inspired. It was a way to allow me to use a lot of the decor from my apartment all in one space, creating a beautifully cohesive room and offering a nod to my first home. When I enter this room I’m often transported to my apartment and it’s a wonderful feeling. I’m so grateful for our house, but that apartment holds such a special place in our hearts.
I love the clay and tan tones in this room. I have pops of these shades throughout my house on a much smaller scale, but I really like how it fills up this room with warmth. Another thing very prevalent in this space is all of the textures, which is something I mention a lot when I talk about home decor, because mixing and layering textures always adds coziness and intention to rooms.
Bed
To somewhat toss the pillows and blankets onto the bed (and karate chop them too, of course) gives them a lived in and casual feel and adds to the cozy vibes too. I like to stay away from anything that feels too prim and proper in my home decor, because I want guests to feel right at home and ready to relax.
Maps
I think it’s pretty obvious the wanderlust vibe in here, but to pull everything together I added the map as the focal statement on the wall along with luggage in front of the bed. These two pieces really bring the travel theme home.
Luggage
I think it’s a great rule of thumb to include at least one plant in every room-it brings such a freshness and happiness. Plus, it always adds a little pop of color too. I placed my little aloe plant in a copper geometric terrarium that I also used in my wedding decor (❤️).
Terrariums
One thing not pictured in these photos is a standing mirror jewelry armoire in the corner of this room on the other side of the window. A mirror is always a thoughtful addition to a guest room.
Laying on the bed is one of the most beautiful chess boards I’ve ever seen. I gifted it to my husband several months ago after he passed some important career tests.
If I leave the door open, I sometimes find the pups snuggled up in here. It’s such a cozy room 🥰
