Healthy Foods I Keep in My Kitchen to Snack On

Whenever I share what I’m eating on my instagram stories, I always get messages asking to share what I eat in a day. Since it’s not always the same, I thought I’d share instead Healthy Foods I Keep in My Kitchen to Snack On. These are light meals, drinks and snacks I like to have around so that I don’t have to waste time cooking something, waste money ordering something, or reach for something unhealthy just because it’s more convenient.

I wanted to note that I do use mayonnaise in a few of these snacks and that usually deters healthy eaters away. However, so little is needed in them that it doesn’t take away from the health benefits like protein and other nutrition they offer. I’ve also used low fat mayonnaise and mayonnaise made with olive oil, which are both good options too and don’t taste much different at all. You can also swap mayonnaise for yogurt in most cases, however, I prefer not to. (Not a fan of the extra tang).

Egg Salad

Egg Salad Recipe

This egg salad is so yummy on it’s own, as a dip or in a sandwich. I boil the eggs, smash them up, then add in a dash of salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder and paprika. That’s it! It kind of tastes like a deviled egg-which I love.

Tuna Dip

Tuna Dip Recipe

My mom and dad have been making this tuna dip since I was little. We always make it to bring to the beach and I love it for quick and healthy snacking. I includes solid white canned tuna, a squirt of ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise. (Just do it to your taste, you’ll notice the ketchup adds a yummy sweetness to it). Then I mix in chopped onions. I prefer red, although any will do, and I LOVE onions, so I put a ton in there.

Cottage Cheese and Jam

Cottage Cheese and Jam

I discovered this combination a few years ago and it’s amazing. I knew fruit and cottage was a solid pairing, but one day I put a spoon on my favorite jam into the cottage cheese and it was PERFECT. This makes a delicious breakfast, snack or dessert.

Other Healthy Food I Keep in My Kitchen to Snack On

Along with the above snacks/light meals I like to make are these that I buy. Like my favorite protein drink of all time (and I’ve tried A LOT). The chocolate and cookies & cream flavors are my favorite.

Cocktail shrimp…yes, I’m serious. I love having this in my fridge, because not only do I LOVE the taste, but shrimp has lots of protein and vitamins and as long as you don’t struggle with high cholesterol they are a great snack choice. I will eat 4-5 to satiate hunger or a salty craving.

OliPop is honestly the best soda I’ve ever had as far as taste and nutrition. The flavors are delicious and refreshing, some sweet enough to be a dessert, but without the sugar and artificial ingredients regular sodas have. These don’t make me bloat like other sodas and have tons of probiotics too!

Lastly, healthy “pop tarts”. I’ve always loved pop tarts, but haven’t bought them in years because they’re so unhealthy. These don’t taste exactly like regular pop tarts, but they’re close enough while having lots of protein!
